“Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, “We are all just prisoners here of our own device”
And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax”, said the night man
“We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave”

Good old Lyft. So much for calling an hour in advance. I get a text last night before 630. Says the driver is THREE minutes away. What the actual …? Good thing I’ve started relying on my “gut instincts” more often than not, so I was packed (or so I thought) and prepared to roll out. Where to you ask? Hotel California? Not but the way I feel less than 24 hours later. It may as well have been though. I spent the night in what looked like a cheap hotel room also known as our local hospital.

No throwing a wake for me just yet. I was just there for a sleep study. My third sleep study I might add. Yeah, I wasn’t really expecting a 5-star accommodation at a hospital. But come on man. Really? It’s the SLEEP lab so they have to expect you to get some sleep, right? Apparently not. The bed. The pillows. That stuff was so hard I’d swear that they were movie props from the Flintstones.

I tossed and turned all night. I couldn’t get my brain to STFU. I couldn’t get comfortable. I hadn’t taken anything for the fibro because it knocks me out. Once the tech confirmed it wouldn’t interfere with the test results, I popped that puppy, and still nothing. No sleep. No pain relief.

I was SUPPOSED to be there today until at least lunchtime. Not at the Hotel California of Maryland. They woke up just-got-to-sleep-ass at 530am. Time to check out and time to leave. I asked the tech on the way out what the deal was. I was really looking forward to my two hospital meals today. Needless to say, I felt cheated. No sleep AND no hospital food? TF? She said they got all the info that they needed during the night when I slept. Which room were you monitoring sweetheart because I can guarantee you it wasn’t room number six.

So, Lyft got me back home. I felt like I had spent the night bar hopping, talked about somebody’s momma, and then promptly got my ass handed to me. I don’t know what truck ran over me, but God I hope someone got the tag number.

I have now officially made a booty call to my BFF Lyrica. He had better hurry up. Mr. Heating Pad has already claimed his spot in the bed.

Ah, there he is at the door now…

Night ya’ll.

Somebody shove those beds together. It’s about to get crowded up in here. source
