A response to Sharon Johnson’s post.

I wanted to do something really radical like actually use the comment section but since it still doesn’t work and Medium says it’s my fault that it doesn’t work because I’m using an old version of Chrome which I’ve updated a million times since I got that useful feedback (not) from the Help Desk… comments still don’t work.

So here I am writing a short form to make two points. I won’t get anything boosted this week either because I’m putting out too much content and will be punished for it because I’m not taking my time and writing useful, informative, or entertaining pieces.

On with the response…

There are many examples of silliness under Medicare rules. A social worker is reimbursed if delivering services in the hospital or clinic, but a psychologist has to be at a hospital under the supervision of a psychiatrist. So if the psychiatrist is in another connected wing of the hospital three blocks away, that counts; if she is across the street in a clinic, that doesn’t. (Note: these are the rules from a decade ago and may have changed, or my memory may have changed them, but the point is correct. That is, there is no rhyme or reason.)
