As far as staying in touch goes why not use Zoom, Skype, or Facetime? There are people that are getting married virtually with anyone who wants to "attend" dialing in for the ceremony. You could always pick up some carry out, dial up some friends, and then you can all sit around and share a meal together. Is it ideal? No. Does it keep you in touch? Absolutely.

Prior to this COVID fiasco I had planned on traveling 6 months out of the year and being back in my home state the other 6. Then I can catch up in real life with everyone including doctor's appointments.
