Mr. Rumsfeld’s resume included positions such as

  • 13th and 21st United States Secretary of Defense
  • 6th White House Chief of Staff
  • 9th United States Ambassador to NATO
  • Counselor to the President and
  • Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois’s 13th district.

Among others. He was a lieutenant in the US Navy (back row, right side).

To say that everyone did not like him would be a vast understatement.

Side bar conversation here. Is it just me or does Leo McGarry from West Wing and Donald Rumsfeld look like brothers? Leo was the White House Chief of Staff to President Bartlett played by Martin Sheen.

The Associated Press reported he died on Tuesday after a battle with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer.
