I hate that I have these two very important stories sitting in my draft folder. They deserve much better than that and even better than what they are about to get. But I’d rather splice the two into one and put it out there in the Mediumsphere for eyes to see than to have them never see the light of day. Both of these are now stale-dated according to publication terms and standards.

But when someone dies, is there ever a date on which you stop thinking of them, talking about them, or honoring them?

On April 28, Cpl. Heacook was pronounced dead because of a massive head injury he sustained in a physical altercation during a domestic police call on the Delaware side of Delmar.

Cpl. Heacook’s remains were returned to Delmar from Baltimore in a police escort on May 2, and a ceremony was held at the town’s police station. Doctors in Baltimore successfully removed the veteran officer’s organs. In his organ donation, the Cpl may…
