Follow-for-follow only works on Twitter. Twitter cares little if there is any engagement between users or not. Twitter just wants users.

Medium is engagement focused. We used to get paid for claps. During the summer there were bonuses for levels of engagement. Both are now gone. Either you have organic growth and engagement or you won't "make it" on the platform.

It took me 14-months to it the $100 a month mark. Two weeks ago I was interviewed by the Washington Post for a piece I had written Aug 2020.

Unless you're an influencer on social media and bring your following here, there is no overnight success. It's all work and lots of it.

Getting 100 followers is only one part. You then have to earn $10 before you get a payout. If you do the F-4-F then you only have jumped one hurdle. If those 100 aren't reading your material then it was all for nothing and you then have to get 100 followers that will engage.
