Here’s Why I Follow More Writers Than Publications
And why you should too
There was a time prior to my existence on the platform when publications ruled all the land. I heard magnificent stories when I first began a mere year plus ago, from other writers of rivers of honey and sidewalks made of gold. I was gab-smacked, wide-eyed, and in awe. I didn’t even try to get into the Holyland of Publication Kingdom as I felt I was not worthy.
But much like the story of Oz once you peel back the curtain and see that there’s really nothing there but smoke and mirrors… At first, you’re disillusioned like a little kid being told about Santa. You’re crushed. Devastated. The gods of Holyland Publication Kingdom? A farce?
Say it ain’t so.
Then you go into a mild form of shock. How can this be? They were so beloved. They had so many writers. So many followers. Day after day after day the stories floated down the honey rivers for starving villagers to snatch up and consume. And devour it they did!
Then you go into the next stage. The stage of anger. How could they?! How dare they?! When the blinders are off and the shock begins to subside and your vision clears, maybe for the first time ever you see what was there all along.
Capitalism.
