I grew up on a farm so we were always outside. Washing cars, cutting grass, pulling weeds, tending to the huge garden, walking through three chicken houses, walking the dog, etc. There was no such thing as straw hats and sunscreen back then.

The first time I got second-degree burns I had fallen asleep on the sand at a beach with a girlfriend. I was out twenty minutes. That’s all it took.

The second time I was in Florida with my husband and under a special umbrella AND had white goop all over me and still managed to get second-degree burns on my right side.

Both times I had chills and blisters for days. Damn Tudor pale skin!
