I shut mine completely off eons ago. I've just "now" started to let some of it in. I've learned to control it like a central water faucet. I let it drip and dribble and stick my finger on it to see what the temp is like. Then I move the knob a little to allow a little more water to come out. Check the temp again.

No more fully on faucets for me regardless of what the "temp" is!
