I write until I'm done whenever that is. Medium states that the sweet spot is 5-7 mins. For me, if you haven't made your point in the first paragraph I'm clicking off.

I know writers get paid by read time but if people are skipping your crap because it's too long then what was the read time from that person?

I'd rather have 10 people read all the way through my 3-4 minute piece and each of them have a take-away than to have one piece 7-10 mins long that no one ever reads.
