If You Use These Words or Phrases in Your Writing…
Don’t expect me to read it.
“I guess…”
“I suppose…”
“My theory is…”
“I don’t have any facts to back this up but…”
It’s enough to make my eyes bleed and my blood pressure go through the roof. How in the actual hell can you call yourself a writer and you are, whether you know it or not, admitting to not knowing what you’re talking about when you use these words.
You’re admitting that you didn’t do the homework.
You didn’t do the legwork.
You didn’t do the research.
Basically, you just didn’t. You didn’t do anything at all. You banged on your keyboard and then hit Submit while someone on the other end hit Publish and voila! More bullshit cluttering the platform.
The piece that triggered this rant admitted that they had only been on the platform for two months and then dove into a shyte ton of supposition like it was taken from the Holy Grail itself while extolling virtues on the virtueless. I gave up after 6 highlighted comments.
Damn.
