I’m Just Going To Say It
I’m offended at a Christian’s use of pronouns.
A few weeks back I got a wish list from a local hospital Chaplin. Not the first wish list from the hospital and I hope it’s not the last. Last fall I hooked up some staffers at a doctor’s office that I frequent with a new picnic table. There’s had rotted out and had to be hauled away. Their patients needed some new stuff so I got a wheelchair, a couple of walkers, and a couple of quad canes. Yep, even remembered the tennis balls for the walkers.
The Chaplin had asked for items such as coloring books and crayons; colored pencils and sharpeners; activity books, puzzle books of all types, and the like. I threw in some small chalkboards and chalk, playdough, loose-leaf paper, a sketch pad, and a few other things. It keeps the pediatric and senior patients occupied.
Yesterday I received an email from her. I had already forgotten about the donations as I am working on getting my hands on the next wish list from another doctor’s office that I frequent. After everything I went through last year, it’s just my way of saying thank you to this new team that’s helping the old bod here turn a corner.
I wanted to give you an update on the Patient and Family Care Cart that you so generously supported.
WOW! What a joy it has been to pass out the games, puzzles, coloring books and toys. We had a young patient several weeks ago and his siblings and lots of family came to visit the patient. The adults wanted to talk and we were able to provide lovely distractions for the patient and siblings to allow the adults time to plan and get updates from the patient’s care team. It was remarkable.
Thank you so very much for your kindness. You made a difference in many people’s lives! — excerpt from the email
I’m glad she’s happy and that the donation is being used and appreciated. But. However,
Pronouns: She/Her
Her preferred pronouns were a part of her lengthy workplace signature line. And it isn’t even like she’s part of the “woke generation”. She has to be close to 70 if not older. I don’t know which one ticks me off more. The fact that this took place in her job function or that she’s a christian.
Yes, Christians can be supportive. Hate the sin not the sinner, right? Is that what’s always being pounded into our heads? To me, it shows weak church leadership. You’ve studied the bible extensively, I would hope, and yet you won’t call a sin a sin because someone somewhere might get offended.
I say good! Sinful nature is offensive and should be called out. Yes, we were all created in God’s image but his image is not that of purple hair with a demand to marry a unicorn while you mutilate your body all in order to call yourself something you aren’t. That’s not in His image. That’s society making an abomination of His image!
Separation of Church and State Examples
No official state religion in the various states. No prayer in public schools. Government may not prohibit churches from speaking negatively about same-sex marriage. Churches can refuse to perform same-sex marriages. Jan 25, 2022
Churches don’t want to pay taxes. They don’t want the government’s interference in their business. Christian bakers can refuse to make a cake for a same-sex couple. But I can’t seem to get a simple thank you without someone’s woke agenda being thrown in my face.
Believe what you want to believe but keep it out of the workplace!
J.R. Heimbigner, Dan Foster, Laurie Livingston Nave, and Living Faith by James M. Dakis I’d like to get some feedback on this subject if you so desire. Am I way off base here? Or is it really too much to ask for people, especially those who should know better, to keep their woke politics out of the workplace, especially as a Chaplin!?
