“I’m sorry you feel that way” isn’t an apology

Wanna know what it isn’t most of the time? Passive-aggressive. I’ve used the “I’m sorry you feel that way” a few times in my life.
Wanna know when?
When I have a Karen on full meltdown mode. Nothing you say or do will make things right. You’ve tried everything that you can to make the situation at least better including apologize. But nothing you do is enough.
You can apologize, offer a discount, hand them free coupons, let them talk to your supervisor, let them talk to your supervisor’s boss, then the store manager, then the district manager, and for what?
All over some perceived slight that apparently knows no end.
