In the late 70s, I was in high school and this was a problem even back then. The Monday after prom, three guys showed up at my locker at the same time and wanted to know why I hadn't gone to prom. I told them that no one asked me. They were all shocked. Each of them had thought the other had asked me so they didn't bother to.

So three at least were looking for me while I sat at home dateless.
