It sounds exactly like another "publication" on here that does exactly the same thing. "Editors" aren't editors. They're button pushers. Editing means you actually take the time to read the piece, place PNs where needed, do simple corrections (no rewrites), and then either publish or reject.

I would hit the reject button if there were PNs. That way the queue didn't get backed up.

I logged 12+ hours a day when I did it but I'm retired so I can do that. You can't just make anyone an editor. You can judge by the quality of the submissions you get from them as a writer. If they're work needs little to no correction then clealry the know Medium well enough to know what is an isn't acceptable.

When they come back online and if they need an editor they can feel free to reach out. I don't mind pitching in. I can't do the hours I used to do because of my health but I have time 7 days a week to assist.
