Jeff Beck-Dead at 78
Two in one day is a bit much.
I wake up at 2 AM and go to the bathroom. I decided to flip open the laptop for a sec and see what was what. That’s when I saw the news about Lisa Marie Presley. I penned her death announcement and tried to go back to sleep. I don’t know what time I finally went back to sleep or woke up to stay up. But when I did I then learned of the passing of Jeff Beck. The only thing I knew of Beck was his affiliation with Johnny Depp. Post-lawsuit, Depp was staying with Mr. and Mrs. Beck. Depp had joined Beck’s band and performed live with him.
That’s it. That was all that I knew about the man when he died. Until now.
Geoffrey Arnold Beck was an English guitarist born in 1944 in England. And that’s almost the only thing I learned about him as I find the online search for him to be perplexing. I Googled “list Jeff Beck songs” and a list of 32 songs came back. By scrolling through them it was tough to discern which songs were songs he performed, which were songs he wrote that others performed, and there was at least one that appeared to be one that I had heard of but knew it as Prince’s song. Purple Rain.
