My Response to the Question “How Do The Self Publishers Do It?”

Keara, this is always an easier option for all concerned than for me to leave a million comments or one really long (obnoxious) one. (God, how I hate it when people do that to me!!!)
Gang, Keara had questions about people who self-publish on the platform as opposed to submitting to publications. Her words are in italics and my responses are in bold.
I don’t get many views when I self-publish, but there is a significant jump in views and reads when I go to a publication. When you’re using a system that pays writers by the minute, that’s a huge deal!
That’s the first nugget right there. ‘Pays by the minute’. Not every writer on here is here to make a living by writing. I know I’m not. I needed something to do to occupy my time when I had to suddenly medically retire at 55. I thought I would work until the day I died. My body had other notions. I needed something to keep my mind occupied but allow my body to just be.
Enter or should I say reenter my love of writing. I’ve been writing to be published back when I was in junior high and wrote for the school newspaper. Before that, it was poetry and life’s secrets in diaries and journals. I’ve written almost none stop all of my life…
