Seaford, Delaware. It was the 1990s. Donna and I were co-workers as well as roommates. One day another co-worker, Gina, stopped by. She needed someone to talk to. Guy problems, of course. We gathered around the eat-in kitchen table and got comfy. Gina starts talking about her husband. He’s sexy and fun but he has a bad boy side. A very bad boy side. Bad enough that it scared Gina but she was also too scared to leave him.

I kept darting my eyes from her to the living room windows and back again while she talked. She made a face at one point, so I told her that I wasn’t ignoring her, but I kept seeing little beings popping up in the windows out of the corner of my eye. When I would look their way, they’d drop back down again. Gina asked me what they looked like. I told her that they were solid black; about 3 feet tall and shaped like Cousin It but with black cat fur.

Gina bugged her eyes. She said that those are the demons that he sends out to spy on her and report back to him. Now is when she tells me that he’s a Satanist.
