Not true. You write and then you either self-publish or submit to a publication that publishes it for you. There is no further distribution than that.

Either the publisher will if they so chose, drop your link on their social media or it's up to you to do it. The only way Medium distributes your stories is if you get curated (aka Chosen for Further Distribution).
