September 11, 2001

The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the World Trade Center’s North Tower at 8:46 a.m. ET, killing everyone aboard and trapping people on the upper floors of the tower.

At 9:03 a.m., the second plane, United Airlines Flight 175, hit the World Trade Center’s South Tower.

American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m.

At 10:03 a.m., United Flight 93 crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

I woke up just after 1 a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep. I tried reading, working on the family tree, and watching my go-to when insomnia kicks in — YouTube videos. Nothing was working. So I got up and unloaded the dishwasher and then reloaded it then popped my gut full of morning medication.

Sometime after 4 a.m. I finally managed to go back to sleep. That’s when the dream(s) kicked in. The last one I remember was of my favorite grandmother’s death. I used to feel guilty about having a favorite but not anymore. Why should I? She treated me better than most people on the planet. Her, her mother, and my GGF’s third wife on mom’s…
