Why am I not surprised by this? Actually, I was!

I knew someone had married into my mom’s father’s side of the family, who was Choctaw. Because we’re related by marriage, my sisters and I have no Choctaw in us but a line of our cousins do.

When I found out that Pocahontas was my 11th great-grandmother, that placed me firmly in the Powhatan tribe.

Now today I discovered a line of relatives that are new to me and are Cherokee.

Then why am I such a pale face?

I mean seriously. I can get a sunburn just shopping for an SPF. I much take after all the European royals and their pasty white skin. It would be one thing if they gave me a castle or two and a lifelong stipend. But the inability to walk from the front door to the mailbox and back without a parasol is a bit much!
