Sugar, the Short-Haired Psycho Cat
Thank God I had my dog!
Sugar was a hot mess long before “hot mess” was even a thing. One of Sugar’s favorite things to do was to perform “zoomies”. Oh yes, zoomies aren’t just for dogs. Cats do it too. Now imagine — there’s an eat-in kitchen with a table in the middle of the room. To the left is a bar area so we kids could eat dinner and watch TV at the same time. On another wall was a doorway into the formal dining area. The house had been built in 1911 and so it was very simplistic in design. Basically, it was pretty much a square box. Additions had been made over the years to make it more comfortable but for this story, just focus on “the box”.
Trust me. It’s important.
Let the zoomies commence! Sugar would fly through the house from the formal living room to the living room, jump up on the back of the couch, up onto the bar, become airborne long enough to land on the kitchen table, down to the floor, out the side door into the dining room, back to the formal living room, and begin again! Shew. That was a mouthful. I got dizzy just writing it.
Of course, the kitten would try to keep up but it was no use. Eventually, she’d flop her tiny butt down and just watch Sugar go. All was well in Catdom until one day Mom decided to “redecorate”.
