That pretty much sums it up.
If a pub has a large number of followers that does not equate to a large number of readers. Just like with writers.
Publishing in large publications that churn out 100 pieces a day means that yours will get lost in the 100 and I know. I used to be an editor for one of them.
Keeping all of your writing in "new writer" pubs does you a disservice after awhile that most people don't think about. Quality. Hopefully, the more you write the better you're getting at it. Not everyone does. I've left more than one publication because I had outgrown it. I was embarrassed to see my stuff published with some awful pieces that were poorly written, incorrectly formatted, improperly cited, etc. I didn't want to get a reputation of shoddy work so I pulled myself as a writer.
