These comments are mostly but not all coming from one specific region of the globe. At this point, I’m at the conclusion that it might be a cultural thing. So I let them know that the culture in the US where Medium is housed is quite different.
You can demand to be treated fairly for example but you can’t demand to have your payment in cash for example. If they cut paper checks then you get a paper check. When direct deposit began to be a “thing” in this country many years ago people had to rush to banks to set up an account in order to get paid because more and more companies were going paperless by requiring employees to sign up for direct deposit.
Their house, their party, their rules.
I’ve seen people from this same region complain about Medium not offering Stripe in their country. Um, two different companies and so Medium can’t tell Stripe what to do. Then they complain that Medium doesn’t use anything but Stripe and why not PayPal. Um maybe they did a cost comparison and Stripe was less expensive.
I can’t imagine writing for a platform for free when I know I need the money and am online to make money. To me, it just makes no sense. At all.
