Twenty years on and after a year and a half of specialized trauma counseling I still can’t handle this time of year. Eight days away and I’m already in tears and having flashbacks.
Fuck I hate this shit.
360+ days a year “I’m fine” and then…
It took me a good five years to not have to run from the house first thing in the morning and go find some way to be busy all day.
It took me another five years to be able to sit in front of a TV and try to watch some of the anniversary shows.
Add another five to be able to watch them almost all the way through.
At twenty years I have yet to go to any of the three memorial sights.
Someday. Someday…
