This Is What It Has Come To
Felicia C. Sullivan — adieu
32K followers.
On Medium for just over three years.
This is from her latest short-form article:
PSA: After considerable thought, I’ve decided to significantly scale back publishing on Medium. I plan to publish 3–4 essays or articles, per month, max. I’m focusing on my weekly newsletter, where I’ve been engaging with readers in a deeper, more meaningful way. No concern-trolling, no misogynistic comments I have to block and hide, no creepy bros, no Ketamine accounts following me, no mass conformity, no talking about cultivating relationships when the only relationship cultivated is with a reader’s wallet. No garbage fucking websites stealing my work like this rat fuck (they’ve probably stolen your work too).
When will the madness end? How many more prolific, long-term writers must we lose before things change? Especially when you consider how incredibly stacked the sexism is rampant on Medium — of the number of male top writers vs the number of female top writers.
I would go mourn now but I’m just too tired.
I’m going to miss seeing you around here, Felicia.
