To All of You Writers Who Are Submitting Your Old Work to Publications
This one is for you.
You submit a piece from April 2019 today and it’s published this week, where do you think it’s going to show up? In the publication’s April 2019 stuff that’s where. Not only will you not be above the fold* you won’t be anywhere near the main section.
The Pink is one of the few places that I’ve seen that put that tidbit in writing where writers could see it. I can’t help but wonder how many publishers even know this is a thing.
I want you to hone in on #2.
An Unpublished Draft. It should not have been published before or in any other Medium Publication. We have stopped accepting Published Articles because the Publication Page will only show the latest articles. So, if your published piece dates back to a week, even five days, chances are that it won’t even show up on the Publication’s main page.
