When Medical Incompetence Becomes Standard Practice
Time for more changes.
Is it just me or is his right arm larger than his left? What drew me to this image?
My right arm looks like his.
Turns out I have phlebitis.
Phlebitis is the inflammation of a vein. Veins are blood vessels in your body that carry blood from your organs and limbs back to your heart. — Healthline
About three weeks or so ago I had some bloodwork done. It took about that long for the swelling in my vein to go down. I actually had to go back to the lab a week later for more work and showed it to that tech. She said she’d try not to scar me for life like the previous tech and tapped a vein in the other arm. Couldn’t even tell she had jabbed me. But my right arm from the week before?
Nearly every color of the rainbow. The crook of my arm looked like a bag of Skittles. It wasn’t the first time so I didn’t think anything of it. Then about a week ago I woke up and my arm was puffy and had a couple of red patches on it. It was a little stiff to move. Okay. So either I slept wrong or had a spider bite or something random and weird but I just knew it was nothing and would clear up on its own.
Until it didn’t.
