When the Secret Service Shows Up at Your Job

From 1999 to 2006, I worked full time as a federal government employee. I took the same oath of office as members of congress.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
Today I am still a reservist and continue to serve my country in that capacity. But when I had an actual office in an actual unmarked building just outside of D.C. things got dicey on a few occasions.
I forget which alphabet soup showed up when a possible exposure to anthrax got called in from our building.
Ditto when the building flooded. Eight storied building gutted from the seventh…
