Yeh, no. I take offense to this. I'm a Boomer/X cusp kid. My mom had little education because she was expected to help her mother take care of her siblings. Weakness had zero to do with it. It had to do with the people that put a roof over your head and food in your stomach told you what you would and wouldn't do as a child. Then as an adult woman your options were limited.
Every parent tried to marry their daughters off to men who were more well off than her family was. One less mouth to feed. One less body to clothe.
The same was pretty much true for both grandmothers and all the way back. My grandmothers were the first generation allowed to vote.
Let's talk about women's health. We're still way behind in detecting and treating all types of cancer that affect women, not men. Then there were the women who had migraines before migraines were a thing and were told that they were basically imagining it.
Even I was dismissed by an asshole male ER doc who didn't think I was sick but "hysterical". He doped me up with a mild sedative and cut me loose. Later I found out that I had a heart condition. That was in 2020/21. And yes, I gave him and his staff shit about it.
Suppression of women isn't the same as women being weak and not having options.
