“You Become What You Focus On”

“Most of what passes for legitimate entertainment is inferior or foolish and only caters to or exploits people’s weakness.”

Two great quotes. Two great men. The first quote is by none other than Darius Foroux and the other is from philosopher Epictetus. My guess is that more people have heard of Darius than of Epictetus on Medium. And that’s okay!

Here’s another quote by the philosopher that Darius brought to my attention.

“If you yourself don’t choose what thoughts and images you expose yourself to, someone else will, and their motives may not be the highest.”

Talk about synchronicity! WOWZERS.

How this all ties into my here and now.

I’m going to need to break it down into bite-size pieces so bear with me. First things first.

You become what you focus on.
Of late I have been focused on two things mainly. One was taking care of my 82-year-old father who has recently had a series of strokes and now has been diagnosed with dementia. And it wasn’t like he was always a very nice person to begin with. These two health issues have only amplified his, shall we say, need to be an a-hole to a whole new level.
